Manage Model Selection as an Ongoing Operational Decision

A model choice needs a review process because your workload, configuration and acceptable tradeoffs will continue changing after the first release.

Cybergizer implementation notes · Practical guide

Keep a workload baseline

Maintain representative examples of the tasks your system must complete. Capture acceptance criteria, difficult cases and the configuration used for evaluation. Include the surrounding retrieval and tool behaviour when testing. A result obtained with one prompt or dataset should not silently become a claim about a different production workflow.

Watch the complete service

Monitor task success, review effort, latency and cost together. Record the model and configuration version for each run so changes can be investigated. Establish a route for users to report failures with enough context. Review exceptions for new task patterns rather than assuming every problem can be solved by selecting a different model.

Make changes reversible

Test a candidate configuration against the baseline before rollout. Decide who approves the tradeoff and how the team will restore the previous version. Expand exposure gradually where the deployment supports it. Keep a written reason for switching or staying. Revisit the decision when requirements change, while avoiding model churn that consumes effort without improving accepted results. Keep the resulting decision and its supporting evidence available to the team responsible for operation.

Apply this to one workflow

Bring the input, desired output and systems involved. We can discuss a bounded implementation with review, acceptance and operating responsibilities.
